Unforgettable Memory      A fond memory throughout my life as a student I'm Simon Tech was the fight that happened during a basketball game. It was us against USC high school women's basketball team. They have been known for being one of the undefeated teams throughout there season, little did they know that so we were going on an undefeated streak to. The first game we ended up winning. It wasn't until we got to the second game where things were a little more intense. The USC hs girls team were playing unfair throughout last game season so this game we were very aware of what we were getting into. Throughout the game, the girls from the other team would tell us bad names and shove us, at one point they scratched Lily V and even tripped one of the girls in our team. The last minutes were running down and we were tied. But before we were able going to shoot because one of the girls from the team hit us, one of our players got angry at a girl who pushed her. She had enou...

Disastrous Bonfire      Throughout my year at Simon Tech there were a lot of good memories that I cherished with my friends and loved ones. However, if there was a certain memory that I will never forget about my year here, it would be the day me and my friends decided to do a bonfire. It was a last minute outing  but as the seasons were getting hotter, we decided to take advantage of it while we can. So, around 5:00 pm we gathered our wood, food and more and headed out towards dockworker beach. As soon as we got there, it was windy. Not the typical breeze, but windy that we  being pushed to one direction.     From this point on, we knew we were going to have trouble lighting up the bomb fire. But we gave it a chance because why not. We spent the whole night lighting matches by matches, throwing wood continuously but nothing ever came out of the pit. We tried so hard but the wind kept snaking it away. Our food began to taste like sand because of t...
Current Event  One thing I will truly miss are the current events. It's the only reason I would wake up early for. Because we can't find reliable news now and days, the teacher picks out the best current events to go over. This gave me insight as to what is going on in the world. Some where just hilarious but it was definitely  an eye opener that most of the students are not aware of what goes on the world because we not constantly checking up on the news. So I'm glad that every Monday I was given a refresher as to what happens in our daily world.     Another thing that I always looked forward to where the presentations. Given that it is the main part of the classroom, I always had this curiosity about how the government works. Especially when Mr. Rocha makes it entertaining. There were good memories in that class that I will cherish throughout my college career and beyond.
Congress System I was instantly intrigued by the congress system. One might think that the government has one main goal, however it takes much to reach a goal when not everyone meets halfway. That being said, unscrewing and analyzing piece by piece how the branch of government works, their roles and how they perfectly balance out each other was a concept I wanted to further investigate. Check and balanced was only the lining of how congress works. There's more to it then what meets the eye. Due to the popular sovereignty in which we currently live in, there are many that think otherwise and will refute this idea by taking power. This is done by having two parties, the democractics and the republicans. The more one party fills a seat, the more they will have power to pass bills in their favor. As a result, once we were aware of this, we were introduced to different schemes these parties try to place in order to gain more of their party within the congress system. One popular...
Civil Liberties             One important topic that was focused in Government class were civil liberties. This unit gave me insight as to the actual liberties we as citizens carry rather than the liberties the government claims we have. That being said, this was also a huge subject to be learned about due to the current events flowing around in the world. Many lack the civil liberties that are implied to us, giving those of a higher authority to take advantage of the liberties we are not aware about. Thus, protest that are done to acknowledge the wrongings of those of a higher government, are going in with little experience in knowing how to defend when their liberties are being tested.       In this class, we learned topics about Habeous Corpus, Miranda Warnings and The Establishment  Clause. They all share the common factor of Using these resources to contradict and fight those in a higher power if unfair. Through these laws tha...
History In the Making        This year, we were fortunate enough to learn the governmental issues in America. While doing so, we were simultaneously seeing history go down as one of the most controversial elections of the century.  During class, one thing I always looked forward to were current events. They resemble some of the topics that we would be going over in class such as the debates they go over. They also kept us updated with the upcoming elections and polls. As a result, once we hit interest groups and political parties I immediately intrigued.     This was probably one of my favorite units of the year because it was something that currently happens in our government. Unlike cases that took place or disputes, the interest groups opened up new definitions that give us a better understanding of exactly the role they take. Before, I had little understanding as to what interest groups were. But the more I learned about ...
