Congress System
I was instantly intrigued by the congress system. One might think that the government has one main goal, however it takes much to reach a goal when not everyone meets halfway. That being said, unscrewing and analyzing piece by piece how the branch of government works, their roles and how they perfectly balance out each other was a concept I wanted to further investigate. Check and balanced was only the lining of how congress works. There's more to it then what meets the eye.
Due to the popular sovereignty in which we currently live in, there are many that think otherwise and will refute this idea by taking power. This is done by having two parties, the democractics and the republicans. The more one party fills a seat, the more they will have power to pass bills in their favor. As a result, once we were aware of this, we were introduced to different schemes these parties try to place in order to gain more of their party within the congress system. One popular way is congressional redistricting. It allows seats to be filled in from each party. There's also filibuster which when a speech is long to the point where the law is already forgotten, if they do not want to pass the bill. However, colture stops this immediately. Overall, the importance of this is to be aware of what really goes down behind these closed doors. It also educates the students about being a part of a party and how to get more involved in the political realm.
